The new HP No. 59 grey photo inkjet print cartridge and the enhanced HP Premium Plus Photo Paper are part of a set of specialised HP supplies to achieve true-to-life photo prints that resist fading for generations - in black-and-white as well as colour. The HP No. 59 grey photo inkjet print cartridge contains three different new inks: light grey, medium grey, and a new photo black. These dye-based HP inks are specially formulated to produce true-to-life black-and-white photos. Unlike printing systems that use black dots on white print media to create grey tones, these inks are combined with each other to allow true greyscale printing with smooth transitions. When medium grey dots are placed, they are surrounded by a field of light grey dots. The same is true for photo black dots - they are located in an area of medium grey dots. Therefore, true greyscales are achieved with considerably reduced grain.
